Today we celebrate a great man named Jerome. He was a fiery priest who got himself in trouble more than once for speaking out against sin, especially the sins of his fellow priests. Eventually he went away to a cave and spent his last years alone with God. What he did there, though, was amazing. He was a brilliant scholar. He translated the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin, and his translation, known as the Vulgate (from the word "vulgar", meaning the "common language" of the people) was the translation used by the church for many years. You can read more about him here.
The life of St Jerome calls us to spend time in the Bible. Have you spent time with His words this week? He is waiting for you there.
God, thanks for the great work of this fiery priest. St Jerome, pray for us.
PS I can't wait for tomorrow's blog. My FAV SAINT OF ALL TIME.
