Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about St Lydia. The interesting thing about St Lydia is that she was already a believer in God, and was worshiping Him, before the missionaries came and presented the gospel to her. She then eagerly accepted the truth of Jesus's life, death, and resurrection. And she and her household were baptized. She opened her house to be a place where Christians in her city, Philippi, could gather. You can read more about her here.
This is a very helpful reminder. When you share your faith with someone who isn't a Christian, it's good to realize that God is already at work in that person's life. Some people already know and love Him, even before they learn what His name is and all that He has done for them. Some people are resisting Him, some are even pretending He doesn't exist. But God is at work in everyone's life, and you are just watering the seeds that someone else planted long ago. Or planting seeds that someone else will come along and water. You're just part of the process, so don't stress. Just do your part, share the truth and share your faith, and let God do the rest.
God, thanks for the great example of this remarkable woman. St Lydia, pray for us.
