Today we read about St Emmanuel Ruiz and his Companions, who are our saints of the day. They were Franciscan friars, and they refused to convert to Islam when Muslims invaded Syria. They were tortured and then put to death. You can read more about them here.
Syria needed prayer in their time and it needs prayer today. Pray for the Christians in Syria and throughout the middle east. God, thank you for the example of these faithful martyrs. St Emmanuel Ruiz and Companions, pray for us.
