Blessed Clement Vismara: Soldier in the Mission Field

Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about Blessed Clement Vismara. He was a soldier in WWI, and when he returned from the war, he declared that he wanted to become a missionary. So he did, and was sent to Burma.

He spent the next 70 years starting schools, helping orphans and widows, and planting churches in an otherwise heavily Buddhist area. When he died at the old age of 91, crowds of people attended his funeral, as he was much loved among the Burmese people. You can read more about him here.

It was evident throughout his life that he loved what he did, and he loved the people to whom he ministered. Do you love what you do? Is God calling you to something new?

God, thanks for the inspiring life of this soldier turned missionary. Blessed Clement Vismara, pray for us.
