Today we read about St Bernardine of Siena in the book In Caelo et in Terra. He traveled all over Italy in the 15th century and spread devotion to the name of Jesus, found in the abbreviation IHS, which comes from the Greek spelling of His name. He was made the superior of his order of Franciscans for a time, and made some good changes to focus on holiness. But then he was allowed to go back to preaching around Italy, and died while doing what he loved in 1444.
