Today we read about a man named Louis Moreau in the book In Caelo et in Terra. He was a sickly child when he was young, and even though he felt God calling him to the priesthood, he had to drop out of seminary due to his health. But then he persevered and was ordained. He worked as secretary for the Bishop in Canada for years, and when the Bishop passed away, he became the next Bishop even though everyone opposed his promotion. He worked diligently for years, helping the poor and reforming the areas of Canada he was responsible for.
You can read more about him here.
If you have been sick, or are sick now... or if you frequently find yourself in poor health... you're in good company. Many of the saints were in poor health for much of their lives. In fact, my favorite saint of all time was sick for most of her short life. (Those of you who read my blog regularly know who I mean. I'll give away the secret at the end for those who don't.) So don't be discouraged. Our saint today, Blessed Louis Moreau, persevered even though he was opposed in everything he tried, even by his own body. And because it was God calling him, he overcame the obstacles and succeeded.
God, thanks for the example of this saint who didn't give up. Blessed Louis Moreau, pray for us.
My fav saint is The Little Flower, Therese of Lisieux. :)
