Today we read about St Beuno in the book In Caelo et in Terra, and we don't know much about him. He was from Wales, and he was an evangelist and intercessor for the sick. There are many legends about him, but we're not entirely sure which stories were actually about HIM and which were about this other saint who lived nearby around the same time.
One story says that a woman was abandoned by her husband, who ran off. She was brought to St Beuno, who introduced her to the celibate life. She liked it so much that she continued that life even after her husband was located and brought back. Which is pretty funny.
You can read (a little) more about him here.
Though the history books might not have much info about me and you when they're written one day, we can make a difference in the lives of those who know us, just as St Beuno did. That's another thing that we can learn from St Therese of Lisieux. When she died, even the nuns who had lived with her for years had NO IDEA what to say at her funeral because she seemed to live such an unremarkable life. But then they read her Story of a Soul, and now the whole world knows how amazing she was.
God, thanks for the love and prayers of this obscure saint. St Beuno, pray for us.
