St Geltrude Caterina Comensoli: Accepting What Doesn't Make Sense

Today in the little book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about St Geltrude Caterina Comensoli. She was an amazing young woman who had a very strong devotion to Jesus, which she experienced especially in Communion (known as the Eucharist in the Catholic Church). She even snuck out of her house when she was a little girl to secretly receive the Eucharist at her local church! Talk about a unique reason to sneak out of the house!

She felt that God was calling her to be a religious sister, so she joined a local religious order, but her health failed and she had to leave. She was very sad, but she saw that God was doing something, so she put her faith in Him. Later, she began a new religious order which had a special devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist. After ten years of serving with this group, she went to see Jesus, whom she'd loved all of her life, face to face. You can read more about her here.

Oftentimes our lives seem to make no sense. Even when (especially when!) we try to follow Jesus, we sometimes look at our lives and wonder what in the world He is thinking. Let's be like this wonderful saint and put our faith in Him, even when things seem total nonsense.

Thank You, God, for this lovely example of loving You above all else. St Geltrude Caterina Comensoli, pray for us.
