Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about St Elizabeth Ann Seton. She was the first native born American to be canonized as a saint.
She suffered pretty greatly for being Catholic. She tried to open a boarding house to take care of her five children when her husband passed away, and it went well until people found out she was Catholic (a convert, btw, because of the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist). Then they withdrew the lodgers who were staying with her.
She took her suffering and used it for God's glory, though. She took care of the poor, and is a great example for us today. We can take our suffering, due to being Catholic followers of Jesus, and use it for His glory just like Elizabeth did.
God, thanks for giving us the great example of St Elizabeth Ann Seton.
