precious gems

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Lamentations 4:1-5:22. The author tells us that the children of Israel, like the actual, literal CHILDREN, were being neglected and abused. The author says that even jackals feed their babies, but the children in Israel were going hungry.

As you read through the Bible, it becomes readily apparent that God cherishes children, and His emphatic command is for us to do so as well. We neglect and abuse children to our own peril - both spiritual peril and peril in this lifetime, as children grow up to reflect the way they were treated when growing up.

If you would like to help feed some hungry children right here and now in 2020, here is a website where you can get involved with doing just that. I know the man who runs this organization, and have known him since college. I guarantee your money will go to good use in helping to feed hungry kids.

But your prayers are also very needed to protect the young among us. And let's find ways in our communities to help take care of young people.

Our future literally depends on it.

God, thanks for reminding us how precious children are.
