God is our strength, fortress, and refuge

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Jeremiah 16:16-18:23. Jeremiah says, "LORD, you are my strength and fortress, my refuge in time of trouble!"

That's a good reminder here in 2020. For many people, the wheels came off in 2020 and they've been trying to put their lives back together for the last seven and a half months. To realize that God is our strength is a very powerful realization when we NEED that strength to deal with losing a loved one. To know that God is our fortress is poignant knowledge when we're being harassed by creditors over bills that we can't pay due to our financial crisis brought on by COVID. The fact that He is our refuge when we need time away from people, or when we have been away from people for TOO long, helps us to remain sane through this difficult time.

So let's put our trust firmly in Him. Let's remind ourselves that He is a foundation that cannot be shaken. Let's every day spend time with Him, so that He can be our ever present strength to face all that 2020 throws at us.

God, thanks for being our strength, fortress, and refuge.
