celebration time

Today we read from Nehemiah 12:27-13:31 in the One Year Bible. The Levites from all over were invited to Jerusalem to celebrate the new wall that had been built.

God calls us to celebrate. He commands us to have feast days and to take time off once a week. He demands that we have fun. He doesn't want us to constantly be working, slave driving ourselves into an early grave. He wants us to enjoy the lives He's given us.

So next time you have a chance, celebrate. Gather your loved ones and eat some good food. Enjoy the life that God has given you. It'll be over before you know it, and you don't want to waste the time He's given you just working without a break.

God, thanks for commanding us to celebrate.
