starting strong

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 2 Chronicles 8:11-10:19. Solomon comes out of the gate strong, doing everything right. He moves his wife out of the Temple because it's a holy place, and he presents all of the right offerings in the right way. He's headed the right direction.

It's good to start off on the right foot. Sometimes we begin the wrong way and it's really difficult to retrace our steps to go back and start over.

But even more important that how we start is how we finish. Solomon is a cautionary tale. He gets distracted by the GOOD things of his kingdom, and some of the bad things as well, and ends up losing sight of the best, most important thing: his walk with God.

Let's try hard to start strong. But most importantly, let's make sure we finish strong. If we lose track of the way during our travels, we only have to ask and He'll help us find our way again.

God, thanks for showing us how to start, and finish, strong.
