we all know someone

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 2 Samuel 4:1-6:23. Just recently, we read about David killing the person who brought him news of Saul's death, thinking he was doing David a favor. But the dummies in tonight's reading didn't learn from that. They went and killed another enemy of David in his own home and brought David the man's head. David killed them, too.

We all know people like these two men... and like the person in the quote above. People who never learn. Who pay no attention to what others are saying. Who make mistakes and don't learn not to. Who never apologize for their behavior. Who pretend like they've never done anything wrong.

Let's strive not to be like that. Let's learn SOME things the easy way - not be forced to learn everything the hard way. Let's read good books by wise people and LISTEN to what they're telling us instead of just arguing with them and reinforcing our own views.

Let's learn not to be fools - but to grow at least a little wiser.

God, thanks for giving us so many opportunities to learn.
