seeing what He did
Today we read from Joshua 24:1-33 in the One Year Bible. God tells the Israelites that they "saw with their own eyes what He did for them." He called them to be faithful and to follow His teachings because they had seen the miracles He performed to teach them they could trust Him.
That's why Jesus did miracles in the NT, too. To teach us that we could trust Him. So that we would believe Him when He proclaimed the Kingdom of God. So that we could one day enter it and live forever.
That's why God does amazing things in your life now, too. One day we're going to grow old and die. All of us, very few exceptions (just Enoch, maybe Mary). So He doesn't heal us just so we'll be healthy... that will eventually fade. He doesn't give us wealth just so we'll be wealthy. He doesn't answer our prayers just so we'll be happy in this life. He does these things so that we'll trust Him. We've SEEN, with our own eyes, what He has done for us. Now let's be faithful and follow His teachings, so that we can enter the Kingdom of Heaven and live with Him forever.
God, thanks for hearing our prayers, and for showing us things that we've seen with our own eyes. Help us trust You.
