our brother's keeper
Today we read from Deuteronomy 21:1-22:30 in the One Year Bible. We're taught that if we see our neighbor's ox, sheep, or goat wander off, we should not ignore our responsibility. We should take the animal back to its owner.
And that's something to take to heart today. You probably won't notice your neighbor's ox wandering off. But you might notice his kids left their skateboard in the street. Or you might see that your elderly neighbor's yard needs mowing.
Let's not ignore our responsibility. Let's take care of each other. Let's be our brother's keeper.
God, thanks for showing us our responsibility. Help us take care of each other.
