He's listening

Today we read from Deuteronomy 26:1-27:26 in the One Year Bible. God is telling the Hebrews what to say when they enter into a covenant with Him. He says for them to say, "We cried out to the Lord and He heard our cries and saw our hardship, toil, and oppression."

It's important for you to realize that today, too. It's important for two reasons. One is that God hears YOU. He knows your struggles. He hears your cries. He understands your hardship and He will answer your requests for help. So be encouraged.

But we should also remember that He hears the cries of others, too. Is He asking You to be His hands and feet to reach out to those in need? And, hardest of all to ask, are there people who are being oppressed by us? By our lifestyle or our apathy? He hears them, too. And we need to join Him in hearing their cries and helping to alleviate their suffering.

God, thanks for reminding us that You listen.
