In today's reading from the One Year Bible, Balaam learns an important lesson. He does this in Numbers 24:1-25:18. He learns that God is determined to bless Israel.
The nation of Israel, from that time until now, remains something of a mystery. Very few if any people groups have prospered more and yet been attacked more consistently than Israel. God seems determined, even today, to bless them. He chose them as His people back in the day, and His covenant has consequences, both good and bad, even today.
We should realize that God is determined to bless Israel, just as Balaam realized. We should pray for them, and of course hope that they come into the fulness of truth by accepting the Messiah. But turning against them or cursing them is a big mistake, as Balaam learned.
God, we pray that you continue to bless Israel. Please help them draw closer to You.
