why patience is important
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Exodus 32:1-33:23. We see that the Hebrews became impatient when it "took a long time" for Moses to come back down the mountain. They made the terrible decision to start worshiping a golden calf instead.
We think they were dumb for making this choice. But we are severely tempted to make the same mistake ourselves on a regular basis. We run ahead of God and try to do things OUR way, in OUR timing. And we get impatient with the way God wants it done.
Most of the sin in our lives comes from impatience. If we were only patient, all of the good things we rush out to grab in our sinfulness would be given to us in the right time by a God who gave us those desires in the first place.
So wait on the Lord. When you do, He strengthens you.
God, thanks for giving us all good things.... in Your perfect timing.
