a labor of love

Today in the One Year Bible, we read about Bezalel creating the tabernacle where the Hebrews would worship God in Exodus 37:1-38:31.

It's clear that Bezalel took great delight in making the wonderful and beautiful building that would be the place where the children of Israel would meet with God for the next many decades.

And that same love and devotion went into building some of the most beautiful cathedrals around the world. People called by God to use their skill to make a place where we can meet with Him.

He calls you to do the same: to use your skills to create places where He can meet your heart... whether that is a painting, a God honoring career, a family, a book, or whatever else it is that you're skilled at doing. When you do your work for Him, He will meet you in the work. And then, like Brother Lawrence, we can practice the presence of God as we work.

God, thank You for calling us to meet You in our work.
