Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Revelation 18:1-24. John is telling us that we need to avoid the sins of the whore of Babylon. And he says something profound in this passage.

He says, "The fancy things you loved so much are gone... never to be yours again." This is true with everything you own. Your car and house and iPad and cell phone. It's even true regarding your body. Even though it SEEMS like these things belong to you forever, they'll all be gone very soon.

Only the people in whom you've invested your time and money will go to heaven with you. So don't waste time. Don't invest in the silly things that are here today and gone tomorrow. Invest in people. Love them. That's the wisest investment you can make.
