Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Revelation 21:1-27. John tells us that at the end of time, we will have a new heaven and a new earth. And there will be no sea.
That's interesting, and it makes me wonder if this might mean we'll be living on a new planet? I mean, yes, it will be a new planet, but will it be something brand new that He creates to replace the earth we live on now, or will we just be living on some other planet that now exists in another solar system? One with no oceans?
The picture above is an artist's rendition of what the world would look like with no oceans. It looks kind of bleak. And we know that's not what we have to look forward to. The new heaven and new earth that God will give us will be no dystopia... it will be the perfect and beautiful fulfillment of all of our desires. It will be our perfect home.
God, please help us become the perfect people that we will want to be, living in the perfect home You have prepared for us.
