where God is
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Hebrews 9:1-10. Paul tells us about the holy of holies, where the priest only visits once a year. And that raises an important question. How is the holy of holies different from the rest of the world? Isn't God everywhere? And isn't He perfectly holy? So how is the holy of holies any different than everywhere else?
Well, the answer is found in the fact that God is more fully present some places than others. We know that He is omnipresent, meaning there is no where you can go where He isn't. But He's MORE fully present where "two or more are gathered" in His name. And He was even MORE fully present in the person of Jesus (and still is, just not bodily here on earth right now). Of course, we Catholics believe that He is more fully present in the Eucharist.
So while He IS everywhere, He is more fully present in Jesus. When we seek Him, we will find Him. And if we seek Him diligently, we will find Him more fully present.
God, thanks for making Yourself present to us. Help us draw closer to You.
