doing His will

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Hebrews 10:1-17. Paul quotes Jesus as saying, "I've come to do Your will" to God.

And that's what we should strive for, too. Unfortunately, we often (accurately) see the situation as depicted in the picture above: we have to CHOOSE between what WE want to do and what God wants us to do.

But there's something I've learned in my prayer life. It doesn't have to be that way. You don't HAVE to pray, "Not my will, but Yours be done." Instead, what you CAN do is ask God to change your will to match His. In other words, ask God to conform our will to His will. To give us the DESIRE to do what He wants us to do.

Then the two signs in the picture above will point in the same direction, and we'll delight in doing His will.

God, thanks for teaching us how to conform our will to Yours.
