as citizens of heaven

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Philippians 1:27-2:18. Paul reminds us to act like who we are: citizens of heaven. And even though we're not there yet, we should begin behaving as though we belong.

Which means what? Practice our harp skills? Go skydiving in the clouds?

Not quite. What Paul had in mind was acting like the Spirit of God was already working in our hearts and minds, making us into saints. We should be practicing faith, hope, love, joy, kindness, goodness, self control, and all of the other "fruits of the Spirit" that make us more like Him and less like the world.

How can you act more like a citizen of heaven today? It's pretty simple: love someone. (And eventually... love everyone.)

God, thanks for calling us to be citizens of heaven. Help us act like it.
