Today we read one of the best chapters in the entire Bible in our selection from the One Year Bible. It's from 1 Corinthians 12:27-13:13. And it basically tells us what is most important in life, so we should probably pay attention.
Paul tells us that love is what it's all about. If we have everything else a person could want in life, including faith, but we don't have love, then we don't have anything.
John tells us that God IS love. And Paul makes it clear that love is more important than faith or hope.
No matter what you value in life, love is more important. Loving others - including our enemies - is our goal in life. It's what God wants more than anything else - for us to love Him, and love other people.
So if you struggle with this (and I think you'd be mistaken if you thought you didn't) then you should ask for help. Believe me, God will help you love Him and love others better. That's His main calling in your life, so you better believe He'll help you do it.
God, thanks for teaching us what's most important.
