we forget His mercy
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Romans 9:1-24. Paul tells us that God has mercy on those whom He chooses. And that's important for us to realize. That we all stand condemned for our sins. We are all destined for eternal separation from Him in hell. But He, in His mercy and love and forgiveness, saves us out of that destination. He saves whom He will. And we can hope and pray that He saves all of us.
But He doesn't owe us anything. We sometimes act like He does. When are you going to give me that job I'm waiting for, God? Where is the girlfriend I've been asking you for? Why haven't I won the lottery yet??
God doesn't owe us anything except punishment. That's what our sins have earned us. But His mercy and love lavish great blessings on us, which we never will deserve.
Thanks be to God for His mercy.
