St Paul the time traveler

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Romans 1:18-32. And man. Paul was clearly writing about the year 2019. I don't know how he managed to travel in time and write about today's events, but he did. He talks about being lifted up to the "third heaven", so maybe somewhere along the way he glimpsed our time.

But yeah. Read through the first chapter of Romans and you see the world we live in today. Men and women doing horrible things. And when we step back from the depiction, we remember that John 3 talks about God's response to this debauchery. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We were condemned already, but He saved us from that condemnation.

You don't have to fear what the world is doing. It is, pretty evidently, self destructing. The vitriol in the political system is so acerbic that even those in the same political party are cannibalizing one another. It's horrific. But we know Who stands victorious in the end. So we can stand confident with Him, and reach down into the mire of the world around us and help people come out of it. We can love them and pray for them... and when they respond to the love and goodness of God, we can help them come to Him fully.

God, thanks for showing us that the present world situation doesn't surprise You. And that Your desire is to save people from it. Help us to help them.
