His kindness... and ours

Today we read from Romans 2:1-24 in the One Year Bible. Paul tells his readers that they need to stop looking down their noses at other people's sins - because they sin, too. And then they add to their sins by judging their fellow man and not being kind or forgiving to them.

It's pretty amazing how we still haven't learned that lesson today. Jesus made it abundantly clear that we MUST forgive others. He even said that our eternal destination depends on how we do or do not forgive others. He told a story of a man who is forgiven his enormous debt, but then goes out and strangles a man who owes him a little. It seems ridiculous, but I read comments by people on FB all day that make it clear they haven't learned this lesson yet.

And I myself need to apply the lesson to my own actions and thoughts more thoroughly. I too neglect to extend the kind of forgiveness and grace and kindness and love that God gives me so generously.

We need to daily take this lesson and meditate on it.

God, thanks for being so amazingly kind and forgiving. Help us to be like You.
