facing the future
Today we read from Acts 21:1-17 in the One Year Bible. Several people come to Paul and tell him not to go to Jerusalem. And they're right in predicting that if he goes there, he will die. But after arguing with him for a long time, they finally say "God's will be done."
We face some potentially scary things in our future. There are diseases around the world that threaten to kill us. Terrorists pop up with alarming frequency, trying to fill us with fear. And it seems every week we have a new mass shooting somewhere in the US. The world is increasingly turning against Christians. We see a polarization on such issues as gay marriage and abortion that threatens to tear the country apart - and the world.
But we know that God is in control. We know that the enemy is defeated, and God is victorious. We know that we can trust Him to lead us safely home.
God's will be done.
God, thanks for teaching us that we can trust in Your will.
