what He wants us to do

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Acts 15:1-35. We hear Paul and Barny arguing with some religious leaders about whether it's necessary to be circumcised to be saved.

And that brings up an important lesson. Because the Jewish law HAD commanded that circumcision was necessary to set apart the Children of Israel. But now Paul and Barny are saying it's NOT necessary in order to be a Christian. So what changed?

Well, God doesn't give us laws or commands for no reason. They're not arbitrary, like the number in the comic above. They're for a reason. But sometimes, like not eating pork, or not mixing the type of cloth we wear, or priests not getting married... the time that the command is intended for comes to an end. And then we are given new information and new revelation for how to live.

When we were younger, we were taught an eye for an eye. But when Jesus came, He taught the older, wiser versions of us... and He taught to turn the other cheek.

What will He teach us next?

Kindness and love are the theme... but the details change according to the need.

God, thanks for being ever the same... but always timely.

JPII wrote a wonder article to....the BODY about Priests and celibacy. ...I think it touch upon Women's Ordination as well. He said it is too out of the Ordinary.

I do agree and like your blog.
Is this Jeff Reedy blogging or just one he likes to share?
