it's good to wait

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Luke 8:40-9:6. The passage says something pretty profound in the very first sentence. It says, "The crowds welcomed Jesus, because they had been waiting for Him."

In case you missed it, we are currently in the season of Lent. This is the time when we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Easter, and Jesus's rising from the dead. It's not fun to wait, right? It's hard. Inigo Montoya hates waiting, and so do most of the rest of us.

But waiting is good for us. It helps us to prepare. To get our hearts ready. To arrive in a frame of mind that can welcome Jesus.

When Easter gets here, hopefully it will be said of us, "They welcomed Jesus, because they were waiting for Him."

God, please help us wait in a blessed way - that we might be prepared to receive You.
