God knows

Today in the One Year Bible, we are taught a very important lesson that we all need to take to heart. It's in Luke 7:36-8:3. An immoral woman comes to Jesus and does something scandalous. She cried so hard that her tears fell on His feet, she wiped His feet with her hair, and kept kissing them over and over. We've heard this story before, so the shock of it has worn off. But think about it. A notorious sinner, someone who today might be a porn star, came to the holiest person who ever lived, who the leaders of His time thought might even be the Messiah they'd been waiting for, and she wiped his feet, wet from her tears, with her hair. And kept kissing Him. And He allowed it! "If He knew what kind of woman she was..." the religious leaders mumbled. But He not only knew what kind of woman she was, He knew what kind of men they were. And He loved them both.

There are horrible things happening in the world today. Young girls are snatched up by evil men and forced to become sex slaves. They either become prostitutes, having sex for money, or they don't even get paid, they just are forced to do shameful things if they want to avoid being beaten or killed. Imagine what life is like for these poor girls. I plan to do what I can in my lifetime to stop this horrible activity.

But Jesus knows what kind of girls these slaves are. AND He knows what kind of men are abusing them. And He loves them both. He wants the girls to be set free, to live good, happy, healthy lives. And He wants the men to stop doing this thing that denigrates themselves and the people they touch. He wants all of them to leave this dark and horrible life, and to find good lives full of happiness and meaning. Let's pray for them both.

God, thanks for knowing... and loving us anyway.

It’s awesome that you want to try to stop things like this from happening to people.
