because of their unbelief
Today we read from Mark 6:1-29 in the One Year Bible. Jesus is in the town where He grew up, and He is willing to perform miracles and heal people there. But they don't believe in Him. I've talked in other blogs about how it can be difficult for us to accept when God speaks to us through those we know well. But tonight, I'm going to focus on how important it is for us to believe.
Throughout the Bible, we are taught through many different stories that having faith is one of the most important things in life. To believe in Him, and to trust Him. Hebrews even says that without faith it is impossible to please God.
Why is our belief so important? Well, if you've had kids, you know how important it is for people to believe what you tell them, to trust you, and to obey you. If they don't believe you and do their own thing, they're going to mess things up... maybe even hurt themselves or die. It's important for those of us who don't know everything yet to trust those who are farther down the road.
And God is the road itself. He's the destination. He's the one who can tell us everything we need to know. We just have to learn to trust Him.
What is keeping you from trusting Him today? Ask Him, and He'll help you to grow in your faith.
God, thanks for being there for us to trust. Help us trust You more.
