what you really want

Today we hear Jesus ask a very important question in Matthew 20:29-21:22, in our selection from the One Year Bible. There are two blind men on the side of the road, and they keep calling out to Him. They ask for mercy. He stops and asks, "What do you want Me to do for you?" They ask for the obvious. They ask to see. And He gives them what they ask for.

You have His attention right now, just like they did. You have His mercy, like they asked Him for. He asks you, in this moment: what do you want from Him? What do you want Him to do for you?

This is a good opportunity to look inside yourself. Find what you really want. What will make you the happiest. What will bring you the most meaning. He says that if we ask, we will receive. And that asking for the right things is important to receiving them. So probably, finding what is the most important thing to you, and then asking for it, is a good plan.

So what do you ask for?

God, thanks for asking us what we want, so You can give it to us.
