a vast crowd, too numerous to count
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Revelation 7:1-17. Jesus is telling us about heaven, and He says that a great crowd, too numerous to count, is gathered around the throne, worshiping God.
That's great news, isn't it? Many speculate that there won't be very many people in heaven, based in part on Jesus's teaching that "narrow is the way, and few there are that find it." But we're told in no uncertain terms that there are so many people in heaven that they can't even be counted.
That's the way I hope and pray that heaven is. Full of people. Those we expect to see (like Peter and Paul and Mother Teresa and St Francis) and those we don't. I hope to even be surprised by who is there.
This news gives us great hope. Let's share this good news with our friends and family. Heaven will be full of wonderful people. Let's join them.
God, thanks for teaching us about heaven, and for filling it with the people You redeem.
