what a rest!

In the One Year Bible, we read from Hebrews 4:1-16. Paul tells us about a rest that God has prepared for us.

And it's pretty amazing, that rest. It's what we have to look forward to, after the toil of this work. It's interesting that it is referred to as "rest". It's also interesting that God REQUIRES us to take time off each week. To rest on the seventh day. He also requires us to have festivals. To celebrate things. He wants us to be happy. He even COMMANDS us to rejoice.

So keep that in mind the next time you're tempted to overwork. To be a workaholic. Your rest, and your joy, are important to Him.

He prepared His "rest", which we will enjoy when we shuffle off this mortal coil, long before the world began. And He wants us to join Him there.

God, thanks for the rest You prepared for us. And for caring about our happiness.
