she'll make your life make sense

Today is the feast day of St Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower. We read from the One Year Bible, from Philippians 2:18-3:4. Paul tells us that God gave his helper back to him so that he wouldn't experience too many sorrows at once.

And that brings up the whole idea of suffering in this life. It DOES seem like God allows many sorrows all at once sometimes, doesn't it? Sometimes it seems like one bad thing follows another in our lives. It can even make you wonder what God is doing. Why is He allowing this? Personally, I don't understand getting mad at God, since I don't tend to get mad at all very easily. But I know people who get angry at Him when it seems like He's not protecting them from suffering.

St. Therese does an AMAZING job teaching us about suffering. She suffered alot. She lost her mom when she was just a little girl, and then lost her dad as well. She was sick most of her life, and hid her illness from her sister nuns so they wouldn't worry about her, and so she could serve in the convent where she lived. But when you read her little story, which is called The Story of a Soul, you'll begin to see what an amazing thing suffering did in her life. And you will ALSO learn what role suffering plays in YOUR life! I highly suggest listening to her story, which you can find by clicking HERE.

I listen to it over and over, and learn something new every time.

Today is her feast day. Give her a try. I promise your life will be changed.

God, thank You for giving us St Therese of Lisieux. Please bless her on this, her feast day. And help us learn from her life... the meaning and purpose of suffering.
