Today in the One Year Bible, we read from The Song of Solomon 1:1-4:16. This is a song of love between two lovers. It's both a beautiful love story between two humans, and a picture of the love that God has for us.
It begins with the beloved telling the King to kiss her with the kisses of his mouth. And that brings up how God showers His love on us. It's not always as simple to see as a kiss. Mother Teresa actually said that when we suffer, we are so close to God that we are experiencing His kisses. And there is truth to that.
But not all of His kisses are painful. When He showers His blessings on your life, those are His kisses. When He comforts you in the midst of your sadness, He's kissing you. When you don't think you can go another step, weary under a heavy load, and He sends you a helping hand - that's His kiss.
And when we thank Him and praise Him for all of His goodness.... that's when we kiss Him back.
God, thank You for Your kisses. Help us to love You with all our hearts.
