Paul gives us good and practical advice today in the One Year Bible reading from Romans 14:1-23. He says to accept other believers who are weak in their faith. He gives some examples of things that they believe, which more mature Christians know are not important. The more we grow in our faith, the more we realize that "love God, love others" really sums up what it's all about. Getting too worried about what days we do what on, or what foods we should or shouldn't eat, is not as big a deal as we might think when we first become Christians.
I've heard people worry about whether they should go back to confession because they forgot a little sin that they meant to confess. People ask if their confession is valid if the priest is drunk. People wonder if they will go to heaven if they don't tell everyone they know about the gospel. People worry about alot of things.
But once you've matured in the faith, you begin to realize that it's all about love. And part of that love is treating those who are weaker in their faith with kindness. Accepting them, and loving them, and giving them time to grow up.
Like we needed time to do ourselves.
God, thank You for giving us time to grow up. Help us be patient with our younger siblings in the faith as they grow, too.
