and immediately they arrived

Today we read from John 6:1-21 in the One Year Bible. And in the story, we read about Jesus walking on the water. Before He gets to the disciples' boat, though, they're having a rough time of it. The winds and waves are scaring them. They are probably thinking it's going to take FOREVER to get to their destination. And how are they going to find Jesus?

And then, in the midst of their storm, Jesus comes to THEM.

That's a great picture of what life is like. We are struggling. Life is hard. The wind and the waves are scaring us. And in all of this, how in the world are we going to find Jesus? It's going to take forever to get where we're going!

And then Jesus comes into our situation. He seeks US out. See, that's the thing. We humans think we have to find God. We forget that He's earnestly looking for us. Seeking us out. Chasing us down. Never giving up on us. And rejoicing when He finds us.

Jesus comes into your storm and He calms your seas. He calls you to step out of your boat, the thing that's comforting you in the midst of your storm, and walk with Him. And, to your amazement, you find that you are IMMEDIATELY at your destination. Why?

Because Jesus is your destination.

God, thank You for seeking us out, and being what we were looking for all along.
