filled with light

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Luke 11:14-36. Jesus tells us to get rid of the darkness inside of us that prevents His light from filling us. What darknesses do we find?

If you're anything like me, the darkness you find inside of yourself is probably due to letting the actions and attitudes of other people affect you negatively. Maybe you struggle with some sin that entices you - drink or drugs or sex or gambling. We all have weaknesses, and we have to turn away from them to keep that kind of darkness out. And repent when we fail to turn away. But when other people treat us badly, it can set us off in the wrong direction. We can find ourselves thinking dark thoughts about them. We can hold a grudge. It's easy to do... and hard to let go of.

But Jesus lets us know today that we CAN let go. We can push those addictions out of our lives. We can let go of our pride and our grudges. And we can be filled with His light. If you're having trouble getting rid of your darknesses today, ask for His help. He WILL help you. No doubt.

And you'll like who you are when you're filled with light. That's who you were created to be.

God, please help us let go of our darkness and be filled with Your light.
