Today we hear some very profound wisdom from St Augustine in
A Year with the Church Fathers.
He says several things about looking down on people who
aren’t as educated as we are. But then he says something that we should all
really take to heart. He says that the hate we feel toward other people does
far worse things to us than anything those people could possibly do to us.
That hits home, doesn’t it? No matter how bad ISIS can hurt
us, if we HATE them, we are hurting ourselves far more than they ever can.
That’s a reality check.
God, please help us love our enemies.
