while we're being transformed

Lewis talks about being transformed today in A Year with C.S. Lewis.

He tells us that we are being transformed from eggs into birds. And the above metaphor also comes to mind: from worms to butterflies. Very apt is that comparison too... since we'll be flying one day. And caterpillars are not known for their flying abilities.

But what I want to draw your attention to today is the process. Because we're IN the process, right? Very few if any of you reading this right now are butterflies. Some of us are worms. Many of us are still in our little cocoons... and all of us have some ugly patches. We are looking forward to the day when we'll be beautiful butterflies. And we're looking forward to the day when OTHERS will be, too.

In the meantime, patience, right? Patience with one another, sure. But let's not forget to be patient with ourselves. We're still learning, still growing, still sinning, still needing forgiveness. Don't forget that Jesus never gets tired of forgiving us (He's the one who said 70 times 7, after all)... so don't get tired of asking for that much needed forgiveness.

God, thank You for reminding us of the goal... and giving us patience with ourselves as we go through the transformation to get there.

To assist me with reminders, I need a trip to the butterfly center, drove past it yesterday and next time I'm stopping.

Thanks you Jesus for being patient with us during our transformation. Helps us to do the same with others.
