Today we read the February 2nd
selection from A Year with C.S. Lewis.
If you want to follow along, you can purchase this book from bn.com
for only $2.99 as an e-book.
Lewis continues his
thought from yesterday. He explains much in this one short sentence:
“When we try to keep within us an area that is our own, we try to
keep an area of death.”
That expresses so
clearly what my blog has been trying to say over the last several
days. “Holding out” on God isn't keeping a killjoy from spoiling
our fun. It's a stupid choice, wherein we decide to hold on to our
small, sinful, selfish ways instead of opening ourselves up to the
life giving, world changing lives that He wants for each of us.
You probably know
someone who is given a great opportunity to do something new and
bigger than what he's done before. And you've seen that person draw
back, usually out of fear. And deprive himself of a really amazing
life by doing so.
Jesus stands at
your door and knocks. He is waiting for you to respond, to accept the
amazing, bigger world that He wants you to live in. Don't be afraid.
Open the door, invite Him in to all areas of your life, and begin to
see how full of wonders the journey of our lives can be when we live
them as the adventure that He is calling us to.
Thank You, God, for
calling us to bigger things. Please give us courage.
