today's readings: 2 Kings 4:18-5:27, Acts 15:1-35, Psalm 141:1-10, Proverbs 17:23
Elisha does some amazing things today. following in Elijah's footsteps, he raises someone from the dead, and then performs a food miracle that points directly at the miracle that Jesus will perform hundreds of years later, even with food left over after everyone eats.
this is a bit of a challenge to us today. Elisha loved Elijah, and desired to follow God the same way his master did. we love Jesus, and we desire to follow Him, as well. Elisha asked for a double portion of the spirit that Elijah had. do we dare to answer Jesus's words, that His followers will do the sorts of things He did, and even greater things?
God, open my heart to your will, and increase my faith so I might do the things You want in my life.

My amazement was Gehazi, he witnessed all that was happening with the miracles of Elisha and yet he lies to Elisha and demands profit from the man that Elisha healed. What happens? Gehazi and his family receive leprosy that the man had been cured of after obedience to what Elisha instructed him to do. Amazing readings!
