today's readings: 2 Sam 22:1-23:23, Acts 2:1-47, Psalm 122:1-9, Proverbs 16:19-20
so i found myself wondering today... why were these Jews living all over the known world? when the Apostles start speaking in tongues, the Jews from all of these different nations can understand them, because God "gave them utterance." but how did the Jews get all spread out to begin with?
well, it goes back to the diaspora. as a part of God's huge plan, after the Jews were exiled to Babylon, they spread all over the world in a huge exodus called the diaspora. i had heard of this, but i didn't know many details.
so, all of these Jews came to Jerusalem to worship for the Passover, and they heard the Apostles talking about Jesus in their own languages. then they became Christians and went back to their homes, taking the Gospel with them. pretty amazing.
thank You, God, for having these awesome plans for us to know You and receive Your good news... which You have for us every day!
