when God speaks through dreams: One Year Bible Reading for November 27

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Daniel 4:1-37
2 Peter 1:1-21
Psalm 119:97-112
Proverbs 28:17-18

Let's look at Daniel. This is a great book. We read today about how the king had a dream, and it troubled him, so he asked all of his wise men what it meant and they didn't know. So then he called Daniel and Daniel told him what it meant. God was speaking to the king through his dream to let him know what would happen in the future.

So are all dreams like that? Is God speaking through my dreams every night? Should I be obeying my dreams? The answer to all three of those questions is no. Not ALL dreams are God speaking. Sometimes our dreams are just our brain working through problems. Sometimes it's just things we're happy or worried about being represented in other ways. God DOES speak through our dreams sometimes. But not ALL of them. And no, we should never obey the DREAM. We should trust and obey God, who sometimes speaks through our dreams. It's important that our trust is in Him, not in the dream itself. He will direct us and protect us when we trust Him. But our lives might take a crazy and disastrous turn if we trust the dream and "do what it says."

God, thanks for teaching us to listen to our dreams - because sometimes You speak through them.
