Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:
Numbers 36:1-Deuteronomy 1:46
Luke 5:29-6:11
Psalm 66:1-20
Proverbs 11:24-26
And in Luke we see Jesus giving the Pharisees some interesting news. They ask Him why He's eating with sinners. He says, "I've come to call sinners to repentance, not the righteous." And this probably left the self-righteous Pharisees scratching their heads. What He didn't say, but we who are reading this understand, is that we are ALL sinners. The Pharisees were sinners, too, but they thought they were righteous and so were unable to repent and accept His gift of eternal life. That's why they needed to become like little children - and be born again. They were too proud of who they were and how "righteous" they had become through their individual efforts.
How is God calling YOU to repent of your sins and follow Him today?
God, thanks for teaching us that the good news is we're all sinners - and You've come to save us.
