Today in the One Year Bible, we read about Jesus being arrested. And it's very clear that we didn't take His life - He gave it willingly. When they came to arrest Him, He asked who they were looking for. When they said, "Jesus of Nazareth", He replied, "I AM He." And the power of that declaration knocked all of them down. As Jesus explained, He could have called 10,000 angels to come and destroy His enemies, but He didn't. Because He had it all under control. It was all part of His plan to redeem the world. No matter how bad people acted toward Him, even His down disciples who abandoned Him when He needed them most, He worked EVERYTHING into His plan to redeem the world.
He does that for you, too. He takes everything in your life, no matter how bad, and He works it for your good. This is why you should be kind to those in your life. They might be trying to hurt you. They might be trying to help you. Either way, God is going to use what they do for your good. So be kind to them. Like Jesus told us, "Woe to those through whom [evil] comes." If other people intend your harm, and you're doing what God wants, He's going to use what they do to help you. And if they continue to fight His plans, it won't go well for them. But if you're kind to them, then maybe when they see how their evil plans fall apart, maybe they'll come around to being your friend. Maybe your kindness will save them.
Maybe.
God, thanks for giving us another reason to be kind.
